Manchester United defender Noussair Mazraoui believes Marcus Rashford could play a key role for the club this season if he remains at Old Trafford beyond the summer transfer window.
Rashford returned to Manchester United after spending last season on loan at FC Barcelona. The Spanish giants opted not to make the move permanent, and the 28-year-old has now rejoined the United squad under manager Michael Carrick.
The Red Devils are currently holding a training camp in the Republic of Ireland, with Rashford linking up with the team following an extended break after the World Cup.
Although Rashford was not available for Manchester United’s pre-season clash against Leeds United on Wednesday, he could be included in the squad for the club’s final pre-season fixture against AC Milan this weekend.
Carrick has consistently kept the door open for Rashford’s return, and the forward is expected to be fully reintegrated into the squad if no suitable transfer offer arrives before the transfer deadline.
Speaking to ITV Sport after United’s victory over Leeds, Mazraoui praised the club’s summer recruitment and highlighted Rashford’s potential impact.
“We’ve made some excellent signings,” Mazraoui said. “Rashford is back as well, and he could be a huge player for us this season if he stays. Obviously, his future isn’t something I can decide, but he’s a quality player.
“The squad is strong, and with the additions we’ve made, it’s even stronger. We need to set our ambitions high and push for success.”
New Manchester United midfielder Youri Tielemans also spoke positively about Rashford after previously playing alongside him at Aston Villa.
Tielemans praised Rashford’s attitude and natural ability, saying: “He was very humble and worked incredibly hard. From the first training session, you could see his quality. His touch and acceleration were outstanding.
“He brought a lot to Aston Villa during his time there, and hopefully he can bring that same level of performance to Manchester United.”
With the new season fast approaching, Rashford’s future remains a major talking point. However, if he stays at Old Trafford, both teammates and supporters will be hoping he can rediscover his best form and make a significant contribution to United’s campaign.
